Or something along those lines.

With only three rounds to go Rob and Marita are both on 98 in the footy tipping competition – which presents me with a problem. What do we do in the case of a draw? I seriously doubt we could ever find another prize with such, um, character as The Urn.

As I’m the one running this comp though I may have to decide that, if Rob does end up in a tie, he is ineligible on the basis it’s obvious he couldn’t have picked the Tigers every week so he doesn’t deserve The Urn. Then again, maybe that means he does.

I really love Cold Chisel’s Flame Trees.

I also love that Style Council’s ‘Shout To The Top’ comes after it in my iTunes.

Nothing says happiness like an Outlook calendar chock full of hockey games that will actually happen.

With the NHL lockout now unlocked it’s all systems go and the 05/06 schedule was released yesterday. This brought on the annual Aussiefication of the dates and times for all 82 Canuck games (spread over three time zones and four changes in daylight savings – two here, two in Canada) and the construction of the file that lets me import them all directly in to Outlook.

Just 68 days to go until the puck drops.

Apparently the height of embarrassment for a nine year old is having your dad listen to his iPod as he waits to pick you up. Even before ‘hello’ I was hissed at to stop listening as I was embarrassing her.

Maybe an iPod Shuffle would be cooler.

This weekend is both the first weekend in a long time with no football to go to and possibly the last weekend for a while that we’ll have totally free so it has been devoted to getting stuff organised.

So far I’ve done my tax for 04/05, put an application to return to study next year, got my car rego and its reimbursement organised, set up an ING Direct account for the baby, caught up with Medicare refunds, set up my tax files for 05/06, changed a credit card and got a to-do list ready for tomorrow for those annoying places that refuse to open just for me on a Sunday.

Of course all of this organisation necessitated a trip to my favourite place. When I got back from there Rae commented “oh, I see you picked up some porn”. Yep, two Officeworks catalogues and their print guide. I love that store. I even got a totally unnecessary staple remover.

Better late than never.

Last week Daniel re-launched his ‘Here Is My…‘ meme with his oldest and newest clothes.

It’s taken me a week to catch up but here they are, my oldest and newest clothes – from Nana to the ‘nucks.

The oldest is my pair of socks. These socks mean a lot to me, they were knitted for me by Nana. She passed away in 1989 so these predate that, and probably go back to 1987 when I first moved down to Melbourne to study. I loved my Nana and I will never ever part with these. Nothing beats footwear knitted with love.

The newest item is my latest Canucks t-shirt. I received it this week, all the way from Canada via Ebay. #16, Trevor Linden, is a Canucks legend. He was once captain but was transferred from the club in a trade, only to return years later to the adulation of every Canuck fan. I’m only a recent Canuck convert (1999) but even I can appreciate what a great player this man is.

It’s time to welcome another blogger to the world as they get to welcome their baby to the world.

Veronica and Steve have started their blog – Our Own Free Wills – so drop on by and say gday, you’ll be surprised at how well a Carlton supporter can write.

Foxtel is in its dying days here, a victim of it’s expense and complete lack of anything worth watching. We did however find one thing yesterday, the AFI’s 100 Years – 100 Songs.

It was a doco on the 100 greatest songs from the movies. I was too tired to stay for the end but I had to look up the list before heading off to bed and when I read it I was outraged!

How on earth could ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ come in at number 1 and leave the greatest, most sublime piece of movie musical magic languishing at number 3. Yes, ‘Singin In The Rain’ came in third place behind ‘As Time Goes By’.

I demand a recount and this travesty of just to be rectified immediately. Every one knows you have to have rain before you can have a rainbow.

And speaking of rain, don’t even get me started on ‘Purple Rain’ not being in the list.

I can’t believe how something as silly as a game of football can affect my moods. Last week we won and it was a great weekend, I was floating around the house all Sunday and nothing could bring me down.

Today we were humiliated after playing a fantastic first quarter. We left early and scowled all the way home in the rain. I’m snapping and dark on everyone and everything, not even the prospect of a lovely roast cooked by Rae can bring sunshine in to my day.

All this because of something that happened over which I have no control and that, in the grand scheme of things, means nothing at all.

Stupid Tigers. Bring on the hockey.
