Wow, What Was That?

You may have noticed how speedily this post appeared. I know I did ’cause I’ve just had a 300% increase in my net speed – for the same price I was paying before. Thanks to that wonderful ISP Netspace I’m now surfing at 1500k instead of that slow poke 512. I celebrated by BitTorrenting two episodes of Deadwood in under an hour.

And now the moment you have all been waiting for.

The official launch of the Tony Malloy Memorial (!) Footy Tipping Competition for 2005. Featuring the ugliest trophy in the history of footy tipping it will no doubt be keenly fought out this year, with all three previous winners desperate not to win the bloody thing again to get the trophy back you will have to be top of your game to walk away with the prize this year.

And as for the twist I mentioned?

The last four rounds will be blind.

The results will be read out Brownlow style (stunning red dresses and supermodel girlfriends optional) at this years Grand Final bbq. International winners must be here to collect the prize or invite us over for a week to drop it off.

There are six places left in this prestigious competition so if you want to be part of it head on over to footytips.com.au, join up and the join the “Tony’s Tipping” competition. Not knowing anything about our fine game is probably an advantage.

It’s Almost Here

Yep, the footy tipping competition is on its way gentle readers so fear not. Assuming my monitor un-explodes and I will be able to use my computer this long weekend the invite will be posted early next week.

And this year there’s going to be a twist. Stay tuned.

Not A Patch On The Tigers Of Now

Growing up as a Tiger supporter back when the AFL was the VFL I came to love my Tiger symbol – the tiger striding in front of the yellow sash on a black background on a shield with Tigers – Richmond Football Club above it. They flirted with a stylised Tiger head in the early 90s (words can not express how much I dislike that era) and now the club uses a magnificent tiger head image.

But nothing says Tigers to me more than that old shield. To me, it’s the true Tiger emblem from our most recent glory days so you can imagine how happy I was when my wonderful gal found this.

VFL Tiger patch.

It’s going on my winter jacket, opposite the new Tiger logo.

Dreamworks On The Bay

Apart from using a name Mr Spielberg and Co may be interested in it seems that Dreamworks On The Bay printing services (even from USB drives) in Hervey Bay took on the wrong person when they apparently mistreated the lovely Miss Beth and M.

There’s more information for you to read on her Dreamworks On The Bay information page.

UPDATE

Here’s the response from Dreamworks. Are they saying Beth is lying? I guess I’ll have to wait for the appropriate action to be taken before I get a chance to ask. And why didn’t they sign off with a name? :

Sir,
PLease be advised that at no stage was a quote requested, this is an every day service at an every day price. In fact this lady advised that at the library the cost was 50 cents per copy, provide your own paper, so she was well aware of the costings associated with this service.
In the event that we find any adverse comments made in the public arena, appropriate action will be taken.
No further correspondence will be entered into untill that time if it may arise

Thank You

Thank you to all who emailed and contacted me over the past few days, your thoughts and words mean a lot to myself and my family.

We sent Dad off well. It was a good funeral, if you can have such a thing, and then a long afternoon and evening of happy tales and toasts to the man the whole family loved.

I know the sun will come up tomorrow, and the day after that; but I’m still sad my dad won’t be here to see it. I’m now even more determined to live my life in such a way to make him proud after hearing about how much he meant to so many people.

Dad

My Dad passed away at 1:30 this morning.

He was good man, he lived a good life.

He was a great dad.

I have no words for how much I will miss him

Hiatus

I’m going to be away for a while, hopefully no more than a week.

I’ll see you then.
