Gin and Tonic, contrary to what the blog will tell you, did end up with an Ipod and in a few days my eyes may go back to blue from the emerald green they turned. That’s two Ipod induced eye colour changes in a few months.

I know that one day I will have one of these wonders so in preparation I’ve started ripping every CD I own. It’s going to take a while swapping CDs as I work but it’ll be worth it when the magical day of joining Ipodders comes.

Wow, it’s amazing how you forget a lot of the music that once meant so much to you.

It’s also odd seeing CD’s from just over a decade ago with no web site addresses. (Marita this came from looking at the Club Hoy CD)

Two new sites went live in the past 24 hours.

criticalconf.com is a site for a conference I’m involved with. Cameron describes it as :

And the best thing is that hopefully there will be no PowerPoint.

The second one is a brain wave of Daniel. geekrant.org will be a forum for all the geeky things we find and want to talk about. It will be a work in process for a while as fellow geeks come on board but we’ll hopefully build it in to something worth visiting.

The AFL have released the fixture for 2005. The Tigers have a pretty good draw at a quick glance and for all you Tiger supporters I’ve put together a file for their games that you can import in to Microsoft Outlook. The game times haven’t been confirmed but the day and venues have been.

Here is the file : Download Richmond2005.csv. Right click and choose ‘Save Target As’ to download it to your PC.

How to get the info in to Outlook :

Save the above file.

Open up Outlook.

Select File and then ‘Import and Export’.

Select ‘Import From Another Programme or File’ and hit Next.

Select ‘Comma Separated Values (Windows)’ and hit Next

Browse to where you saved the file, select and press OK.
Select ?Replace Duplicates With Items Imported? and hit Next.

Select ?Calendar? under ?Select Destination Folder? and hit Next.

Make sure the the ?Import Richmond2005.csv in to Calendar? box is ticked and press Finish.

There you go, all of the Tigers games for 2005 at your command.

So. The first rearrangement of any note since we moved in.

The study has a great window looking out to the backyard (check here) so that seemed like a great place to plonk my PC. I could work and look at the cats running around. This was the perfect plan, for three quarters of the day as come afternoon the sun would come bursting through straight in to my eyes. Shutting the blinds was the only answer and that seemed like such a waste on beautiful days so I’ve moved the desk to the far wall.

Now there’s a great space under the window. I’m thinking of putting in another desk (courtesy of Ebay) so I can move my paper work from this one. I truly believe you can never have enough desks.

Yesterdays Grand Final BBQ saw the presentation of the annual Anthony Malloy Perpetual/Memorial (depending upon who you ask) Footy Tipping Trophy.

While the AMP/MFTT is without a doubt the ugliest trophy in the history of the world competition was fierce and it wasn’t until the final round that Mr Daniel Bowen secured victory.

The lovely Miss Marita, 2003’s winner, was on hand to present the trophy. Congratulations Daniel and I hope to see all the tippers back next year.

There was another presentation on the day. This was for Rob and I from Veronica and Steve.

Hope they enjoyed their bbq, everyone will miss them next year.

Today it’s Grand Final BBQ day, the official launch of the 2004/2005 barbeque season (and the end of a horrible, horrible footy season).

I’ve learnt two valuable lessons from my dad. 1 – make sure there’s gas in the gas bottle for the barbie. After the humiliation of one summer’s afternoon that left all of Shepparton talking this is the thing I dread the most. I’ve poured the hot water over the bottle and it seems about half to one third full so that should be enough to cremate everything today.

2 – use the correct kitty litter. Dad once read the using kitty litter to catch the fat dripping from the barbie was a good idea so he put some kitty litter on the drip tray. It wasn’t long before huge flames began leaping from the back of the bbq, threatening to engulf the garage. What the article didn’t mention, and only dawned on dad as he stood hosing down the fire, was the clay, clumping kitty litter probably would be a better choice than recycled paper kitty litter.

It’s a bit cloudy but hopefully the rain will hold off and we’ll get a bit of sun. The lawn has grown a metre or two in the week since I’ve mown it but as Rob’s mower is in the mower hospital at the moment our guests will have to contend with re-enacting the opening scenes of Indiana Jones. Adds atmosphere.

So, here’s to season 2004/2005. May your snags be burnt and beer be cold.

Just caught Belter sitting on the footpath. Then I realised she wasn’t getting ready to cross the road, she was eyeing off the two magpies sitting on the power line above her.

Just give me my hockey back.
