Reasons To Be Careful

Reasons To Be Careful To Watch What You Say When You Have A Toddler #349.

When you are sitting on the couch with Nana and Uncle Rob after a lovely dinner and flicking through the channels on television your little will pipe up with “there’s just crap on the telly tonight mum”.

Oh my, he must have been listening to the neighbours most nights when they complain that “there’s nothing but crap on the telly again”. Yes, it must be the neighbours.

Tomorrow We Begin

Last year we bought a patch of dirt.

Then we saw some plans.

Then we signed lots of bits of paper.

Then we waited.

Now the wait is over.

Tomorrow they begin to transform our little patch of dirt in to a house that will become our home.

The block is clear.

Brrrrrrrrrr

Okay, the first really cold night so the heater is on for the first time this year. My question is this – is it too early to put the flannelette sheets on the bed?

A Phone Call

Wow.

Through a chain of events I ended up talking with a very close family friend of one of my sporting idols today, a man who once worked with my mum and dad. I said how I had always wanted to meet this man and get him to sign a book I have.

“Well, give him a call,” said the close family friend “he’s listed in the phone book.”

And, lo and behold, this legend is there in the White Pages. So I did call him and next week I’ll be meeting him after all these years.

What an amazing day.

Domesticity

Albert Asleep

This afternoon while Bert had a nap in our bed I made the kids pikelets for afternoon tea.

I’m fast becoming a domestic god.

He’s A Pinball Apprentice (And Not A Very Good One)

Meteor Pinball Machine Today Daniel sent me a link to a Dr Who pinball machine on Ebay. Of course I want it but for some reason he rejected my offer to go halves (with two hours to go it’s at $1,780).

It did remind me of my one true pinball love though. I found it at Silverball Mania in Shepparton, way back in the early 80s, and I spent a good deal of my allowance on it – the Meteor pinball machine. It remains the one pinball machine I became quite good at and if I could find one to play tomorrow I’d be there in a heartbeat. If they’d sell me it for a lot less than $1,780 I’d be in heaven.
