New Beginnings

New Beginnings

Started the packing last night, all my CD’s and DVD’s done. Manged to fit all my DVD’s into one box (except for the Buffy box sets). Parcelled it up and realised that cardboard box was worth about $2,500. I really have to get better on my spending.

Been thinking and as this is a whole new beginning I’m adopting a search and destroy policy for the move. If I haven’t touched/warn/used something in the past year it is either going to the Salvo’s or in the bin. No mercy. I’ve even bought a new keyring so I can move only the keys I need along with the pocket knife and torch on to that. It;s getting quite exciting and if I can get enough boxes today so I can pack this evening I’ll be a lot happier.

Weekend did have another down point. The Tiger’s aren’t even half the team they were last year. No drive, no passion, no skill, no chance. We play Sydney next Saturday night at Colonial but I don’t think I’ll get to see them unfortunately. If yesterday’s game was a must win, this is a double plus must win.

This time next week I will have driven to work from the new family home. Bizzare.

Sunday

Sunday

Last weekend in Aramadale, I’ll miss this place a little. It;s been fun here but it’s time to move on. It’s 11.40, a glorious late Autumn day and Veronica and Steve are still in bed. This I won’t miss – how can they do that?

Drove by the new place this morning and it looks fine, hope we have good weather for moving next weekend. Rae’s had two people look through now so hopes are rising that we can avoid the hit of having to pay her rent again. Veronica is going to try and let this place straight away so I will hopefully get half a months rent back – if I do that’ll be a bonus.

Hockey last night was fun. Good to see a game, even though Ice lost 5-2. They are just about to start another game today so hopefully the starting goally will be rested. So lucky I’ve found Rae who loves my two favourite sports. Think I may be pushing up hill to get her to go the cricket so I’ll settle for two out of three. Speaking of sport – Tige’s play this afternoon. Will catch the train (for the last time from here) at 12.45 which will get me to Colonial by 1.00. We had better win today, I remember last year when we played the Crows and the slaughtered us in the third quarter. It was pouring with rain and a very miserable evening. If we can win today we can make it back into the 8. Essendon lost ti Freemantle last night – what glorious news.

Time for some lunch and then I’m going to have to look at starting to pack this evening. God I hate moving.

Audience reaction to Episode II in NYC

Tonight the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City held an Exhibitor screening of ‘Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones’. While I (Spell) was not able to see the actual film, I was on the scene when the film ended to gather some audience reaction. I’m happy to say that I did not see one disappointed face in the crowd. General comments ranged from “Great!” to “Absolutely Fantastic!”

Sturday What A Day

Things are looking good today. Rae has had her first inspection by a prospective tenant. His name was Walter (which is the name of Rae’s car) so as far as omens go that’s as good as any. It’d be such a relief if Rae didn’t have to pay another months rent – that would be the perfect situation. I’ve cleared work out of boxes so we can get that moving. Two houses into one is going to take a lot more cardboard than I originally thought. I love work – they get lots of drugs and delicate equipment delivered so all the boxes are incredibly sturdy. The recycling dept keeps the best boxes for staff who are moving.

Footy last night was fantastic, I think Mum and Dad had a really good time. Pity the game was so one sided, but them’s the breaks when you have a team of 18 year olds vs the thugs from Collingwood. Showed them the new place this morning and all seemed suitably impressed. Such a glorious weekend, can tell we will move in next weekend and it’ll rain non stop for three months. Ah well, at least we have the footy and DVD to fall back on.

Have to get moving here now – so much to do and only one week. Yikes. Hockey tonight as a relax so I’ll be looking forward to seeing how my new adopted team goes.

Torture

Torture

My Star Wars edition of Empire hasn’t arrived yet – this is killing me!

Footy

Footy Tonight

I can’t believe it. Finally get Dad okay with coming to the footy and what happens – this morning there is a letter in the Sun about two (out of 40,000 people mind you) yobs at Colonial Stadium. Of course Dad latches on to this as the end of the world. How maddening. I have never seen anything like this at the footy and today of all days the stupid rag that specialises in sensationalism decides to run a letter. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Anyway, once they get here and see it is all okay it will be a good night, until then I only hope he behaves himself so mum can at least enjoy her first member’s game.

We have lift off.

We have lift off.

May 11 – all hands on deck. Rae is obligated to pay rental on her current place until it is leased again. Here’s hoping, we have until the 14th.

Here We Go

Here We Go

I’m gonna be a Westie. The agents called Rae last night and we have the house – wow! That was so quick, just over 24 hours. The amazing thing is that the agent said we can move in tomorrow – which would give the current tenant one day to get out. We saw the stuff she had in there and it’s going to take her longer than 24 hours to pack and move.

So, not sure when it will be, will know when later this afternoon. Rae has to break her lease so we are hoping she can do this sooner rather than later. May be a busy week or two ahead. I’m paid up until June 1 and I’m sure Veronica will be very flexible. She’s a great gal.

Combining Rae’s and my ‘stuff’ will be interesting – the house will have two DVD players, three televisions, two stereos, two queen size beds (although one will go to Rae’s mum), over 100 movies on DVD, about 600 CD’s – no shortage of entertainment, which is a good thing ’cause money is going to be tight for a while. There are two parks – one through the back fence (thankfully there is a gate) and one directly across the road. I don’t know the area that well so discovering the delights of Newport will no doubt be fun for a while.

Exciting times ahead, stay tuned.

Home

Home

Here I go. Leaving work a few minutes early to head home and under the doona. Wondering when we will hear about Johnston St

Cold

Cold

I have a cold. A proper cold. Doctor says it’s viral so I can’t do anything about. Grrrrrrrrr. It’s okay as long as I don’t need to breath.
