Footy Tonight
I can’t believe it. Finally get Dad okay with coming to the footy and what happens – this morning there is a letter in the Sun about two (out of 40,000 people mind you) yobs at Colonial Stadium. Of course Dad latches on to this as the end of the world. How maddening. I have never seen anything like this at the footy and today of all days the stupid rag that specialises in sensationalism decides to run a letter. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
Anyway, once they get here and see it is all okay it will be a good night, until then I only hope he behaves himself so mum can at least enjoy her first member’s game.
We have lift off.
May 11 – all hands on deck. Rae is obligated to pay rental on her current place until it is leased again. Here’s hoping, we have until the 14th.
Here We Go
I’m gonna be a Westie. The agents called Rae last night and we have the house – wow! That was so quick, just over 24 hours. The amazing thing is that the agent said we can move in tomorrow – which would give the current tenant one day to get out. We saw the stuff she had in there and it’s going to take her longer than 24 hours to pack and move.
So, not sure when it will be, will know when later this afternoon. Rae has to break her lease so we are hoping she can do this sooner rather than later. May be a busy week or two ahead. I’m paid up until June 1 and I’m sure Veronica will be very flexible. She’s a great gal.
Combining Rae’s and my ‘stuff’ will be interesting – the house will have two DVD players, three televisions, two stereos, two queen size beds (although one will go to Rae’s mum), over 100 movies on DVD, about 600 CD’s – no shortage of entertainment, which is a good thing ’cause money is going to be tight for a while. There are two parks – one through the back fence (thankfully there is a gate) and one directly across the road. I don’t know the area that well so discovering the delights of Newport will no doubt be fun for a while.
Exciting times ahead, stay tuned.
Home
Here I go. Leaving work a few minutes early to head home and under the doona. Wondering when we will hear about Johnston St
Cold
I have a cold. A proper cold. Doctor says it’s viral so I can’t do anything about. Grrrrrrrrr. It’s okay as long as I don’t need to breath.
Excited
What a great day – very busy at work. Incredibly happy that Meredith has actually hired somebody to exclusively write content for the nutrition site that I am doing. It’ll be fantastic to have someone to work with.
Big excitement is I may get involved with the Melbourne Ice, a new ice hockey club. Spoke to the chairman this afternoon and he’s eager to get me on board to help with their website and offered me admin type stuff too if I was interested. This would be fantastic to get in on the ground floor of an exciting new club, and especially with a sport I love. Will be waiting for his mails or a call now.
Okay
Application for Johnston St faxed. Nothing we can do now except wait. The suspense will kill me.
Just thinking that this is the first place in a long time I have voluntarily moved to – most of my recent moves have been through necessity. Must have been Hawthorn almost 10 years ago that was the last one.

One of those days.
Well, looking back on it I guess today was one of those turning point days. Rae and I are applying for a house together. Suprise if you’re not Rae! Saw it this afternoon. I love it, think it may be a bit more modern than Rae was anticipating but it’s something we can make our own. Study for me, room for Phee, big kitchen, lot’s of light and two parks literaly at our front and back door. Sunny spots for Thomas, cable TV in the street. Pretty much all we were wanting. I’ll fax the applications tomorrow and then it’s all fingers crossed.
Told Veronica this evening and she was really happy for the both of us. What a gal. She’s looking at buying a place and Steve was wondering if I would move in with her, which I would in a second if Rae and I weren’t looking.
Also have volunteered to help with a web site for Melbourne Ice, Melbourne’s new ice hockey team. Hopefully they’ll take me up on it – it’d be great to get involved in a sporting club somehow, especially in a sport I love. Law and Order on now – gotta go.
