I had a day off today so I grabbed my laptop and headed down the peninsula to visit some people who needed some IT help. An easy drive, a good lunch, pleasant afternoon over looking the bay as showers rolled in and out and then a drive back home in brilliant sunshine. Not a bad way to spend the day although I have felt the stirrings of another obsession beginning to build. I think before too long I’m going to start ‘needing’ a broadband wireless modem for my laptop. Six hours without net access is just too long for this net junkie.

What to do when your side is thumped by over 100 points? Have a beer and take some pictures. There’s always next year.

Okay, so a little hurricane has sent the price of bananas through the roof (I’m lead to believe about $3.00 each) and ‘unrest in the Middle East’ has caused petrol to go through the next roof but can someone please explain to me why the price of Oddfellow Peppermints has gone as high as $3.33 a bag? I can do without bananas and petrol but when essesntials are affected I want answers.

At last, I have my grown up glasses. I found them on my lunch time stroll today. They’re not ‘proper’ crystal wine glasses but they are very nice, properly shaped red wine glasses and they work very well indeed if the two sitting in the drainer and the one empty bottle in the recycling are anything to go by.

I have to face it, I’m addicted - and of all the things I choose it has to be bloody expensive and pretty pointless after the first one. My problem is I can’t stop lusting after Crumpler bags.
My first was for my digital camera but this wasn’t enough so I bought this one for my laptop bag :

But six months has passed and this is now longer enough.
I need a bag to carry my study stuff around and, rather than do the budget wise thing and use an existing back pack or bag, I got it stuck inside my head that I had to get a Crumpler for my books and notepads. Only thing is that Crumpler bags are bloody expensive, even from their 2nds shop so I’ve been keeping an eye out on Ebay for a few weeks. Sunday night I won an auction and picked this beauty up for just over $50. What a bargain.

I’m thinking now I may have to buy a second laptop, there’s a really cool new satchel just been released…

We watch Medium most weeks. I have one question about the show though that’s been bugging me for weeks now.
Why doesn’t Joe move the phone to Alison’s side of the bed so he can get a proper nights sleep?

Bella sleeps on our bed most winter nights while Tom sleeps on Phee’s. I try not to disturb her if I have to get up and I worm my way around her as I get back in. I was woken early this morning by something, got up, came back and found the familiar lump right in the middle of my legs. I squashed down, she didn’t move and it was back to sleep.
This morning Rae got out of bed first, as she usually does, so I lay there trying to summon the will to rise. The little lump hadn’t moved at all so when I finally dragged myself out I reached out to give it a pat only to find I had spent the night with Harry Potter curled up in the crook of my knees. I must have fallen asleep so quickly I didn’t move Mr Potter to the bed side table where he normally resides. I went out in to the lounge and there was a very grumpy looking little girl glaring at me from her cushion. Sorry Bella, tonight the bed is all yours.

I knew I loved 6 Music for the music but I had no idea it would make me feel better about myself. Chris Hawkins today was talking about how he had to call his breakdown service when he got a flat on the weekend because his wife wasn’t in the car to change it or tell him what to do.
You have no idea what a relief it was to hear that another man (if I may use that term given what we are talking about) is totally dependant upon his wife when it comes to car related disasters. Now I know there’s two of us, admittedly on opposite sides of the world, maybe we could form a club: The Mainly Useless Motor Mechanics with Y chromosone Boys.

1) Just because something looks simple doesn’t mean it is.
2) Plumbers are expensive.
