Lambs to the Slaughter

Lambs to the Slaughter

Just saw a kid starting in Food Services. He must be about the same age I was when I started. Memories….

Last Night I Dreamt of

Last Night I Dreamt of Cardboard Boxes Again

Boxes, everywhere. Yep, we are officially tenants after paying the rent we got the keys. I moved one car load from my place, then we did two loads of two cars from Rae’s. Thankfully Knackers cooked us a great dinner in-between loads that kept us going. It’s quite amazing the amount of junky we’ve transported already. A couple more loads tonight and then it’s just the big stuff tomorrow.

A big disappointment however is the keys. This place has more keys than a piano factory. Front door, dead lock, security door, window, sliding door, sliding security, patio bolts, window locks, back door, back dead lock and then there are the keys that seem to have no purpose. So much for minimalist approach to keys.

The amazing thing is the smell of the house. It is identical to a house I’ve known before, only thing is I can’t remember what one. It’ll come to me one day, otherwise it will drive me mad.

Sorry, Wrong Number

Sorry, Wrong Number

All this time I thought my favourite hockey player, Todd Bertuzzi, was number 14 – he’s actually 44. Lucky I didn’t get his number on my Canuck jersey.

K Day

K Day

Today we get the keys! Got a taste of commuting this morning – a car had broken down half way up, inbound in the middle lanes of the Westgate bridge. THe bank up on the bridge and down Melbourne Rd was stretching for kilometres. Once past the unfortunate soul the trip was a breeze, although it took me fifteen mintues to get to the top of the bridge when it normally takes 3.

Rae is all packed. She has done the most amazing job getting ready – this move is going to be a hell of a lot less stressful than the last one. It’s going to be odd sharing my life fully with someone again, especially someone so different, and with a child. Phee seems to be coping okay, although it’s probably more through ignorance of what happens than anything else. I think she’s pretty excited and I can’t wait to see her face on Saturday. Thomas is getting a little stressed – he’s not sure what on earth is happening with boxes piled everywhere and people not paying him all the attention he deserves. He’s not going to like being an indoor cat for a while, but, them’s the breaks when your a cat.

Keys Pt II

Keys Pt II

We can collect the keys for the new place tomorrow!!! Yay! All systems are go.

Baby Kicks

Baby Kicks

Oh wow. Just felt Trish’s baby kicking. Absolutely amazing sensation.

Keys

Keys

I’ve done a key cull. Once the five keys that currently get me into my place and Rae’s are reduced to one or two for the new place I will have a maximum of five keys on my chain. Add one small torch, a small pocket knife and my Tigers tag and my load will be lightened considerably.

Funny the things that make you happy.

Red Light

Red Light

Caught behind a huge truck last night that I couldn’t see around, followed it through an intersection only to discover it had run a red light. Hope there is was no comera there.

Speeding Along

Speeding Along

We signed the lease last night, the agent was lovely after the disaster of the other day. Passed over the bond, signed our signatures many times over and the place is ours. We are so lucky with the current tenant – she is trying to get out by Thursday which means we may actually get the keys late Thursday night.

My room is pretty much packed now – I really need to get stuff in the car before I can do much more. Will probably pack up the PC this evening so mail and blogs may be a little infrequent until the office is all set up. Reminds me that I must check and see where there is a phone plug. Poor Rae is plugging along getting her and Phee ready, the boxes in her lounge are amazing.

It’s all very exciting, Saturday seems a long time away.

Babies

Babies

Trish pointed me at the Coles Baby Club so I joined Helen up, she gets a great little package of sample stuff, hope she enjoys it.
