Babies Everywhere

Second round of congratulations goes to my cousin Tim on the birth of his baby boy Charlie. Unfortunately the child will grow up to be a Blues supporter, but apart from that I’m sure they will be good parents. Our extended family is growing at alarming rate.

Guess that only leaves my sister to go. Come on Helly, join the birthing rush.

I Can See Clearly Now

I lashed out yesterday and spent some of my hard earned business money on a new monitor.

It’s larger than my old one and will, hopefully, make life a lot easier when it comes to web site design. It’s also an upgrade that’s cheaper than replacing my whole PC. My Lord of The Rings DVD looks spectacular on it too.

Congratulations Sue

Well done Sue! My niece has just given birth to a baby boy, William David. I am now officially a great uncle. Photo to come on Friday when we make the trip out to Sandringham to visit the new family.

The Enforcer

Phee came home yesterday upset that her ‘friends’ had eaten her lunch. Well, they strip mined the good bits and left Phee with just the sandwich. One of these ‘friends’ also cut Phee’s finger with a pair of scissors a week or so ago.

I know that this all part of growing up and Phee will have to eventually learn to fight her own battles but not now. After going through the “Tell them no” & “if they do it again go and see your teacher” speeches from Rae and I, I told her this morning to tell these girls to leave her food alone otherwise her dad would come and deal with them, and I’m big and scary. So, six year old hoods – beware. You don’t frighten me.

Cold Night, Hot Cat

If you live in my neighbourhood and it’s your cat on heat that kept Rae and I awake last night then do something about it.

Now!!

Surprisingly the only family member not affected by the caterwauling was Thomas who blisfully slept through the entire thing.

We’re from Tigerland (at last)

Phee's Ticket
I’m not sure I have what it takes to be a sports spectator. Yesterdays game (Tigers v Melbourne at the G) almost put me in hospital – I guess I should’ve headed the warning sign of seeing a guy who had a heart attack before he even got into the game.

The first three quarters were magnificent; we kicked long, kicked straight, accurately and played with purpose. Richo was on fire and the team looked like the Richmond of old. Then came the final quarter. Ten minutes in we were 46 points up – an unassailable lead in normal season with a normal team. What happened for the next twenty minutes had me struck dumb with terror as we stopped and the Demons surged – with two minutes to go we were five points down and seemed set to lose by a measly point again. How they managed to defend for those 120 seconds when the ball hovered around Melbourne’s goal must have involved some form of divine intervention; that final siren was sweeter than any sound I have heard. Rae had been screaming her lungs out all quarter but I saved my voice for the end – ‘Tigerland’ rang out loud and clear, and I’m still singing it the next morning.

One victory in ten games, but we’ll take it and love it.

‘a charm of publicity’

Opened my business email this morning and one caught my eye. It was an Indian firm touting for business. Seeing as their specialties included ‘web design and medical transcription’ I thought I’d check one of their sample sites.

www.calcuttatramways.com led me to what I think is a description of the Calcutta tramways :

It was not only Bengal’s battle of Plassey which jerked the whole nation but also it was the Tram which made the Kolkatans dumbfounded.Ever since the first Horse drawn Tram carriages hit the rails,a new era of history was created.Amidst lot of hurdles, barriers,& setbacks, this tireless gentleman has stood firmly tall witnessing the golden decades of our history through its wheels.Infact Tram can be considered as one aspect which gives the city a charm of publicity.Series of transformations & renovations from horses to electricity has never deprived the Tram of its luxorious, easy going lifestyle profitably status.Tied with an ecofriendly tag ,Tram has never seemed shabby & sluggish meandering smoothly through the lush greens, madding crowds & the jammed traffics.Kolkatan Tram has unheralded a new chapter in the transport sector where the euphoria of the younger ones has changed to aversion and ridicule as he grew up older.

Although Kolkatan tram has entered into its 3rd century, yet it has been able to maintain its much touted hype, sheer & still attracts people to have a smooth silk glide on it’s carriages.Tramcars evoke poetry which often remains incomprehensible in words.

Really indeed, Tram lends Kolkata an old world charm and add to the romantic element to the city. This slow moving ,electrical reptile in narrow and crowded streets completes the ultimate attraction of the city .Having glided down the rails as a historian witness,Tram has itself been turned into an immemorial heritage for which the whole Kolkatans will be proud of.

Tony The Builder

In the past two months I have constructed two large bookcases, one medium bookcase, one small bookcase and two desks. Surely this must be enough? Nope – I still need to find a place for my 100+ issues of Empire, there’s no room for any new books and our DVD collection has space for about two more DVDs.

I can see it now – every year we are going to have to move just to find a bigger house with more room for our collections.

Phee’s Latest Disney Idol

Maleficent
Phoebe has a new Disney idol. And who would this lovely little six year old spend every waking hour obsessing over? The beautiful Snow White, the noble Lion King, the charming Little Mermaid?

Nope, not our little gal. It’s Maleficent – the evil queen from ‘Sleeping Beauty‘.

Rae and I were sitting in the kitchen last night when we hear Phee yell out ‘Noooooooo’. Rae gets up to investigate and comes back with the news that Phee was very upset – she wanted the dragon to win, not the Prince.
