Halfway To Happiness

I’m almost happy. One of my two babies has been sent back and I can collect it tomorrow. Unfortunately it’s not the baby I want the most but as of lunch tomorrow I’ll have my phone back. They’ve given me a new battery and rechecked the internals so I should get more than two days out of it now.

Of course this doesn’t make up for the fact that I didn’t have it with me when David Rodan stood directly in front of me talking to family at the football last weekend.

I Should Have Got A New Mattress Instead

I’ve recently changed the name of my business so in the spirit if a new start I opened a new account with a new bank. I also wanted to open an ING Direct business account to keep business savings in. All went well with ING until I needed to provide a deposit slip with my name on it.

Bugger.

I logged on to my ANZ to order a deposit book.

Bugger again.

Apparently the first book of deposit slips has to be ordered in a branch. So today I walked on down to the local branch and waited. And waited. And waited. 20 minutes is what it took until I was seen to. Then all that happened was I gave my account number, asked for a deposit book and after a few clicks on the keyboard the lady said “done”.

I didn’t have to fill in a form.
I didn’t have to provide ID.
I didn’t have to sign anything.
I didn’t have to provide any details above and beyond what they already had on their system.

SO WHY ON EARTH DID THE ANZ MAKE ME WASTE MY LUNCH HALF HOUR WHEN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO IT IN ONE MINUTE OR LESS ONLINE?!?!?!

I really hate banks.

Giddy

I’m on top of my tipping competition, by myself!

As it’s my competition I’m wondering if I can call it over now and declare myself the winner? It may be wise as the Tiges have three of the next four games against quality opposition and it’s at this stage of the season we’ve fallen away the last few years as we begin to travel interstate.

Nah, stuff it. I’ll have faith in my boys and their ability to keep me up.

Fear

Is there any fear to compare to that which accompanies the realisation you may have accidentally been telling the tax department an untruth for three years? If there is, I don’t want to know about it.

I swear I can cope with any department or bureaucracy except for the ATO (maybe they should follow Australia Post’s model and just start calling themselves ‘Tax’). I’ve a good head for numbers but, and this is a bad thing ’cause I run my own business, I swear I will never understand how this taxation system works. That’s one reason I have my accountant and thankfully a call to them reduced my blood pressure to normal levels as I hadn’t been as stupid as I thought.

Upshot is I now have a new business name with a grand unveiling coming soon.

Draining?

It must be me, there’s no other reasonable explanation for why now two of my babies are in/on their way to Gadget Hospital.

I’ve already moaned about my iPod being in Apple Hospital, now my phone is on its way to Nokia Hospital and I will be without it for 5-10 business days (which equate to about 1.4 normal days). I’m having the same problem with my Nokia 6230, it won’t hold a charge past 2 days, and as I was shunted around so much in the 14 day ‘replace it no questions asked if it’s a lemon’ period they (being Optus World) now have to send it off for assessment. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

(Update – put my sim card in my old Nokia that hasn’t been near a charger in six weeks. It hadn’t lost one bar on the power indicator over this time).

Our Ghosts

We have several ghosts in this house.

1. The one that knocks the shampoo bottles off the shelf in the shower.
2. The one that has made the sun room smell like sesame oil.
3. The one that makes an electronic beeping sound somewhere under that pile of paper, just over there.
4. The one that lives in the light above the kitchen table that the cats stare at for hours on end.

We’re learning to live with them all.

Baby Is In Hospital

I just checked the Apple support site. My baby has been received and now I’m just waiting for the diagnosis.

I hope they fix her and send her back soon. I miss my iPod and I’ve got the latest Bruce Springsteen (Devils and Dust) and Ben Lee to add to her.

Sooky Cat

Thomas, big brave cat who hasn’t wanted to sleep on our bed for the past few months, what does he do as soon as the temperature finally dips? This morning the three (okay, three and a half of us) were all fighting for the doona and the middle of the bed. Musn’t have been too cold though ’cause Bella slept on my office chair.

Can’t wait for those two cat nights to kick in soon.
