Hot Bed

What a seething hot bed of lust and intrigue my work is. Well, not work as such, but more a couple of people at it. Within the past month two guys from the engineering department have discovered their wives were having affairs and the marriages are now over.

Whilst sad by itself the sadder thing is listening to either of them and how they tell their stories. Suddenly they have quick and witty replies, their wives are both full of regret, they claim to be happier, they dealt with it all so well. Anyone with half an eye can see they are both falling to pieces but this need to appear in control, or to convince themselves they are, must be overwhelming.

Footy Tipping

4! I got four in the split round. Not bad at all. Mind you I’ve tipped the Doggies and Tiges for next weekend so there goes my great record.

Relaxing Sunday

Sunday, day of rest, yeah right.

First off I have to say how proud I am of my mum and dad – they figured out the comment thing and left my first comment, what a buzz! Hi Mum and Dad if you’re reading this.

This morning it was up, deal with Phee’s pocket money (she only got half this week, messy bedroom – it’s slowly sinking in that being good=having money), off to the market for shopping, next it’s Marita’s for lunch and then Zita and Rob for dinner.

Couch looks great with a rust coloured cover so now all we have to do is get a similar one for the arm chair and all will be well with the lounge.

Slowly But Surely

The new system is taking a little getting use to – that and I’ve been busy with work a lot so not many updates. Have put new little pictures on the sports, movies, books and television pages as a start.

Today we picked up a couch, a three seater that Trish was getting rid of. We hired a trailer to get it back home and then it wouldn’t fit in the front door so we lugged it around through the park, in the back fence and squeezed it through the back door. One couch cover from K-Mart later and our lounge room is looking good.

At last

After two days of fiddling my new blog system is working! This makes me very happy; now I just have to figure out how to get the comments and archives working. Sigh.

Eight Hours

Eight hours until the weekend. It’s been a hell of a week at work so looking forward to relaxing – maybe a movie tonight, then it’s lunch with Marita and Tima and Annie on Sunday. All things being equal we’ll have a couch tomorrow too – Trish is donating us a three seater, what a gal!

Bought a new CD last night. Billy Bragg that has a wonderful little track on it called ‘Yarra Song’. As a matte of fact I like it so much, here are the lyrics.

YARRA SONG

There’s a chill tonight on the Yarra
Winter is creeping in
While far away my loved ones
Wake up in England’s spring

And although delights await me
All the way to Flinders Street
It’s that little piece of heaven
With which they must compete

When The Saints take on The Magpies
Someday too far away
I barrack for St. Kilda
In that funny game they play

But my heart’s not really in it
My mind wanders to a town
Where The Hammers sing “I’m forever blowing bubbles”
And the rain comes pouring down

Yes, it’s still raining in England
Guess that’s why I like it here
There’s a brolly in my hotel room
For when the skies aren’t clear

‘Cos it never rains in Sydney
And it never rains in Perth
Adelaide’s a desert
And Brisbane’s just scorched earth

So excuse me please such days as there
And send me to the town
Where the children sing when St. Kilda win
And the rain comes falling down

So wake me up tomorrow
And send me home again
To where The Hammers sing “I’m forever blowing bubbles”
In the pouring London rain

Here We Go Again

Okay, here we go with a whole new Blogging system. I hope this will give me more power over my blogs and make it a lot easier to implement my other pages such as coffe, movies and the like.

Oh Joy

What rapturous joy! Grab my paper at work this morning (The Age, of course) and there is a Rivers catalogue inside. This in itself is normally cause for great celebration but today even more so.

My prayers have been answered – late night incense burning and countless petitions to The Almighty have finally born fruit. Rivers now sells boxer shorts!!!! Pure cotton boxers!!!! And only 6.95!!!!! And just as my current crop of boxers are heading for retirement.

Tonight, we shop!

The TBC Logo

The logo you see on the tackling bowel cancer site is not the original version. The first effort was rejected because it looked too much like an anus peeking from cheeks, the second because it looked stupid, the third because it looked like a colon coming out of cheeks and the fourth, well it was just right. All in the space of four hours.

At last

Well, speed web development can work – www.tacklingbowelcancer.com is live. It doesn’t look the best and we’re being held up by The Doggies who won’t send us a picture or their logo but at least there is some information. Now to get some more work done and then off for a 5 o’clock meeting in Toorak.
