The Long Winter Ahead

The shadow of winter began to be cast yesterday in 35 degree heat.

We travelled down to Geelong to watch the Doggies play their pre-season game yesterday and it was a scorcher, 35 degrees apparently, and the teams were at it full throttle from the first siren. When I say teams I actually mean Geelong. The Doggies obviously didn’t want to make the trip to Cairns next weekend and put on a display to rival Richmond’s from Friday night.

We left half way through the final quarter and the drive home was long and silent, save for muted sobs. It’s going to be a long season.

And So The Agony Begins

It’s going to be a long, long footy season.

Richmond were totally outclassed and outplayed last night in one of the more pathetic performances I’ve seen them put on. I even had to create a new word to fully express how abysmal they were.

Last night Richmond’s woefullosity levels were so high it’s difficult to see them recovering for a few seasons yet.

Some Of My Work

A site I started over two years ago is finally coming together thanks to finding someone who cares about the project. So if you want to see what the weather’s like in Blairgowrie today check the Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron’s site – www.bys-aus.com.

It’s Back

The nights are getting cooler, days a little shorter. Summer is slowly slipping away. It’s even rained today – proper rain that’s lasted more than a minute at a time. It can mean only one thing.

IT’S FOOTY TIME!

Yes, after 5 long summer months the footy preseason starts tonight when Richmond take on the Demons. It’s the time of year where, for a few brief minutes, anything is possible.

So, deep breath, and a one, and a two, and a one two three

Oh we’re from Tigerland,
A fighthing fury, we’re from tigerland….

Oh Great

After a couple of decades of operations trying to get my feet to stop falling to bits it now appears I’ve got a stuffed hand. I have to have a test to rule out Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Worse thing is that even with my contacts I still can’t get in before March 25.

Canadians Win Some, Lose Some

First, the win some. My beloved Canucks staged a once-in-a-season comeback yesterday. Trailing 0-3 with fifteens minutes to play Naslund scored the tie with 30 seconds left. I jumped out of my chair in the office, screaming like a mad man. If you’ve got nothing better to do (and lets face it, if you’re reading my blog you really haven’t, be honest now) check out the final period on CKNW (skip the first 15 minutes, it’s just the break between 2nd and 3rd periods). You can then go and hear the O/T where we score the winning goal. It was one of those amazing games, the sort you listen to 80 in a season to find.

Now for the lose some.

Canada were bundled out for a world record low of 36 by Sri Lanka in the 2003 Cricket World Cup. Ouch.

Help Please Nigel

Nigel, debate rages within the corridors.

Which of the following is the most correct (assuming you can have degrees of correctness)

“Evan doesn’t choose either.”

or

“Evan chooses neither.”
