The internet opens up so many possibilities we could never had dreamt of in the dark ages (any time before, say, 1995).

Sitting here, surfing away, when my Skype rings.

Martin hales from Germany and he’d never called anyone in Australia before so he tried me.

We chatted for 5 minutes, about wine, beer, the time of day and our jobs.

Then Martin went back to whatever he was doing before he decided to call a complete stranger in Australia and I went back to surfing.
