A Year and a Half on…

To my darling sweet 18 month old boy. You have grown so well. You are still growing into a wonderful young boy. So very quickly.

Today you made me so very proud as you stood at creche, waved confidently at me with a “Ta-ta Mama” and a smile. I know today is a hard day for you, with all the new babies in your room and the mothers that seem to crowd, but I also know through talking with the carers in the room that you are one very spoilt boy. On a similar day last week, all the babies were brought out of the sleeping room, leaving you alone to have a good rest. That day you slept for 3 hours. You are in good hands, mind I will always wish it were mine and Dada’s hands you were in, but we all concede that this is how it is for now and that you are learning to make lots of friends instead of just your small circle of family.

Today we tried coco pops for the first time and didn’t really care for them. I think we’ll go back to froot loops. Sure, neither are the best cereal, but considering you’ll actually eat some of the loopys, at least you are having some brekkie.

This week also saw a big change in the Malloy household with you stopping your bottle. You still have a cup of warm milk in the morn and evening times, but no more actual bottle and teat. You have shown that you can drink (without spilling a drop) from an open topped cup on your own also. I doubt you’ll be using the baby cups for much longer.

So life moves on. My spoilt boy. You are in for a big shock when your siblings arrive. I’m hoping your big sister will grow up a little in the meantime and start to do as we’ve been trying to teach her for so long, rather than the same silly mistakes over and over again. It would be nice to have an older girl in the house. We live in hope. You seem to somehow be a little older than her in the helping department. Always willing to pick up after yourself, always happy to join in.

So anyway, a very happy year and a half birthday to you my beautiful boy. My wish for you is to always be happy and always have that gorgeous smile on your face. It’s infectious and no one can resist joining you in it.
