OK, the next person to tell me that I’m not very big, is going to get a slap upside the head.

1. I was told almost everyday, up to a couple days prior to either of my first two being born that I wasn’t very big and was surely going to have an undersized baby on my hands when he/she was born. Phoebe was born 8 pound 2 (3.69kgs) and Bert was 8 pound 5 (3.72kg). Both good and respectable sizes. Not undersized tiny things.

2. I have a long torso and carry well.

3. I’m only 3 months gone! If you expect me to be the size of a house now, what hope do I have for when I’m 7 or 8 months gone?

4. When you were a kid, I wish your Mum taught you to keep your mouth shut when you didn’t have something nice to say. Join a conversation and add something constructive as opposed to destructive, cos yes, it doesn’t make me feel wonderful to hear “Geez you’re not very big are you?” instead of “Congrats, wonderful news” or “I hope all goes as well for you this time, as it did the first two times” or how about something to make me laugh like “What in the world did you do to Tony when you found out?!?”

How hard is it to either be polite or funny or nice in your reply to finding out the news, instead of surrepticiously looking down at my expanding (yes, it is getting bigger, and generally it’s flat as) belly and waistline. I tell you, it’s not that hard. It’s called tact people. Learn it, or just keep your mouth shut.

I’m actually in a rather good mood. Belly was feeling very light this morn and I was quite worried that things were going a bit weird on me, but am feeling good and heavy again this arvo, with heartburn and ill-feeling all back in place. Nothing like a good dose of heartburn and ill-feeling to make you all comfy again! :) I just hope to not bump into  tactless people for the rest of my Monday.
