Should have known

Signs that we should have known things were different this time around:

1. I went to the GP to “pee on a stick” to get confirmation and a referral to my OB/GYN. I handed over the cup and he asked me what my LMP date was. I told him and he stated “Oh that’s not so long ago at all. We may not get a reaction on the test… Wow. That was quick. Yup, looks like you are pregnant”.

2. Sick as a dog. A dog that is sick that is. I had morning sickness like you wouldn’t believe. I even threw up a few times. Horrendous. I had not a bit of anything problematic with the other two. I now feel really bad for all the women in the world who have hated pregnancy and told me all their horror stories and for thinking to myself, “well I must be pretty lucky, as I’ve not had that problem, nor that problem, eewww, nor that problem.”

3. Zzzzzzz…… I am soooo tired. Getting better now that we’re at 14 weeks, but up until recently, I could sleep and sleep and sleep. And then possibly sleep a little more. And I have recently had to force myself to get moving to do stuff. Normally I’d just go ahead and do whatever was needed, but the past 3 months have been the most tired I have ever been. Even when Bert or Phee was waking me several times a night.

So really, we should have known something was up, that something was different. I guess we just never even considered that to be a factor.

Hah!

And there was that stupid brother of yours who asked at 8 weeks if you were showing already and you said no, but you were!

    Sorry!

  2. Marika says:

Ah…but I’m sure it will be twice as worth it!

(I say this from a safe, never-been-pregnant-much-less-with-twins distance. I have no idea what you’re going through, and hope that doesn’t sound too twee!)

Ahh the clearness of hindsight :) I can’t believe you never thought about it - I did more this time than the first because i was worried ow i would cope with Kaelyn AND twins

  4. Rae says:

Thanks guys. Nope, seriously, twins never entered my mind, there was no reason to. It’s not like it runs in either of our family trees, or anything like that. I just thought I was growing sooner, as it was such a short amount of time since I had Bert and my (normally lovely and flat) tum was just stretching a little quicker this time.
    *sigh*.

OMG! Look what happens when you neglect your blog reading (especially that of your blog host!) for a time…
Congrats guys! Hope the shock is subsiding…

  6. Sarah says:

Wow. I mean WOW. I check up to see how my old blog friend is doing and this is what I get. Congratulations! That is such fantastic news, and a bit scary at the same time. Wishing you all the best!!

My friends with boy/girl twins tell me that they get asked at least weekly if they are idential. Um, yeah. Her answer now is “Yeah - except for the penis”. So I think the lesson is that if you think people ask you silly questions when you have one baby, just wait until there are two!!
