Week One
Well, week one is almost over. It’s a case of so far, so good. He really is just about the perfect baby - sleep, eat, play, smile and repeat. Even the hot weather hasn’t thrown him, all it takes is a cool bath and bit of naked time on some towels and all is well with the world.
Five days in and I’m loving this. It’s tough, there just isn’t enough time in the day but hopefully when Phee goes back to school next week we can get in a Bert and Dad routine and things may get a little more structured. I’ve faced my biggest fear twice - taking him out and about but am yet to brave a trip that involves a feed. The prospect of baby rooms terrifies me - I am sure I will commit some massive faux-pass and that there are a thousand unwritten rules I am not aware of. My biggest blunder to date has been taking him shopping to Coles without any socks, but in my defence it was a hot day and I’m living and learning. No one came up to berate me for my poor baby dressing skills so maybe it’s not that big a deal. Scariets moment was just this morning when, for the first time, I went to check on him and he had rolled over and decided to fall asleep on his tummy.
The best bit, without a doubt, is the ‘I’ve just woken up and I’m so happy to see you ’cause you’re gonna feed me’ smile. Melts my heart every time.

Is it a no-no to take your kid out without socks? Maybe it’s a Coles thing. At Safeway that day, all the kids were going barefoot.

Sockx suck!! All they do is fall off there feet and you spend the time checking to see iof they are still on. Go sockless - especially when its hot!
