Cup day

Today was Bert’s first Cup day. And he spent it quite grumpily. Ok, for a kid who really isn’t too grumpy, he had a bit of an average day.

We spent the last few days with family in country Vic and were home for the big race. All of us with one horse each, stupidly none of us with the Grand dame Makybe Diva. Course, the Diva took the race by storm and won her third Cup in 3 years. That’s some record, the first horse to do so.

Anyway, we watched the race, Bert watched silently, then complained loudly that his horse was still running and promptly went to bed, where he lay and yelled about the heat. One of us would pop in to keep him company and he’d quieten for that time. As soon as he was alone, the grumbling began again.

After a walk, an icy pole (for us and Phee) and an hour early bottle (for Albert) he’s now in bed. Hopefully he’ll go to sleep and remain so for a few hours.

Poor bugger can barely keep his eyes open. He’s just completely wiped; and without a champers in sight.
