Pricks
I had my appointment with Max today. Last time I went, he told me to go to Pathology first to have some blood work done, then see him and go back to Path to have it finalised. So off I went. Had blood taken from my left arm, drank a bottle of glucose drink, which tasted like lemonade, unlike the last time I had to do this, and then wandered off to see Max.
He, as always was in fine spirits. Calmed my nerves and questions and sent me on my way. You have to love the man.
I went and sat outside in the cool air to read my book and relax before returning to Pathology. I get back there and let them know I’m there. According to the dinger, I’m just on time, so get whisked into a room for more blood removal. All done, but find I actually need an injection as well, so go to the waiting room to wait. The lovely nurse lets me know that it’ll be around 15 minutes, so I say that I’ll go and check if I need to move my car and be back.
By the time I’m wander back in, I figure that I should just sit and wait. the same nurse that dealt with me earlier walks past me about 20 minutes later and is surprised that I’m still waiting, so then arranges me to go in next.
This nurse takes one look at me, cotton balls stuck to both inner elbows, laughs and tells me I’m full of pricks today. I laugh along with her, all the while wondering if she realises just what she said.
For this injection, I have to drop my drawers - it has to be in the bum! I’ve never ever ever had a shot in the arse before and I’m now telling you, it ain’t pleasant! She tells me to curl my toes, cos my leg automatically raised up when the needle went in. Ouchie-wow-wa!
So hopefully that’s that. The blood sugar test results should go to Max, so I won’t find out about that til my next appointment, unless it’s bad news, and Max is happy with the growth and all of everything. Seemed suitably impressed, so I’m happy with that too.
Now I just have to try and figure out a comfy way of sitting with this sore butt.
