OK, here's my 2c worth!

During:
1. What to Expect When You're Expecting - Great all-purpose reference, it has everything sorted by month and is very reassuring.

2. Up the Duff (Kaz Cooke) - Hilarious, and some of the information is useful (not as generally useful as the other, though).

After:
1. Baby Love by Robin Barker - Sensible advice from a sensible Australian!

2. The No-Cry Sleep Solution by Elisabeth Pantley - This is my usual baby gift to new parents and has *always* been well received. It's not foolproof but it is gentle, reassuring, helpful and encouraging (and it did help our babyu sleep a lot better!)

3. The Baby Whisperer by Tracey Hogg - It's a bit flavour-of-the-month but still has some really good advice, especially about learning to interpret your baby's cries.
